Moving Day

My apologies for the extraordinarily light blogging - yesterday was moving day and in many respects I am still recovering. Moving is probably one of the worst things, there is always something more to do. Luckily I didn't have far to go - only down the hall - but our western democratic capitalism allows for absurd levels of consumption, something I am particularly guilty of. I was wishing for a few moments yesterday that I was a Chinese peasant or something...

Anyway blogging should be back up to speed today, sort of. I've hit another crazy patch at work, but am going to really try to not let it stress me out. This week has been a crazy news week! And Lost Causes has yet to comment on the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. Stay tuned for that.

To start, here is a good piece by Robert Kaplan on NorKor.

  1. I don't mean to preempt the discussion on Sotomayor (what a name), but I don't think we should take seriously any Republican attacks which were preformulated in response to ANY of Obama's picks. The intention there is obviously dissent for the sake of dissent, distraction, and media attention. Sotomayor, especially with respect to her abortion views (yada yada yada), is a very reasonable and well-balanced pick. The Democrats for their part in trying to prevent the nomination of Justice Roberts (who is much less reasonable than Sotomayor, in my view)...

So let's celebrate another woman sitting in our highest court and whose fully prepared to uphold the law (whatever it may be). I know I will.

  2. Sorry, I meant to say the Democrats didn't wage much of a battle against Roberts.
