No, I Am Not Slavoj Žižek's Ghostwriter

I happened upon an odd coincidence recently and thought I would clear the air. Slavoj Žižek, a famous Czech philosopher (and proud Marxist) recently wrote a book with the same title as this blog. I can't speak for him, but I draw no inspiration from Slavoj or intend the name of this blog to represent any secret (or not so secret) agreement between us that involves the dissemination of subliminal Marxist propoganda. In fact, I'm quite sure that upon reading the contents of this blog, Slavoj might very well become ill to his stomach. I hope to buy and read the book sometime soon, though I'm not so sure it will sit well with me.

By the way I am now on Twitter, you can follow me @ patrickthurber.

  1. It's a tough read because it's dryly esoteric, but I really think you should read Joseph Schumpeter's "Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy." It's fiercely logical, academic, and even brilliant, and predicts with astonishing precision the economic course of the twentieth century and beyond. He also has a really good critique of Marxism which is the most informed and honest that I've ever read. Promise me you'll read this book.
